Week 12: Fantasy Update

November 18, 2008

If you have any Green Bay Packers on your fantasy team you should start em, if you have any Philadelphia Eagles on your team you should sit em, and if you have Matt Forte, Hines Ward, Marion Barber, or Peyton Manning you defintely want them active this week. Also depending on the health of Reggie Wayne and Darren McFadden you should keep an eye on them this week since they both have awesome match-ups. To simplify things a bit: If your players face Denver, St. Louis, Houston, Kansas City, or Cleveland’s defense then they should produce well for your team.   Read more

Week 11: Fantasy Update

November 11, 2008

Due to some difficult fantasy match-ups last week my fantasy football squad under-achieved. When Steve Slaton had a 58 yard TD reception called back because of an offensive penalty by TE Owen Daniels I knew it was not going to be my week. As stated in the Week 10 update Braylon Edwards should only be used if absolutely necessary. He is officially in my doghouse, I will be getting rid of him immediately!  This week I have Marion Barber coming back from his bye week and hopefully my team can get it together for the playoff run.

Here is my squad as of now: Read more

Week 10: Fantasy Update

November 4, 2008

The Week 9: Fantasy Update indicated that Braylon Edwards should only be used in your fantasy line-up if you absolutely had to use him. Due to Steve Smith’s bye week I was forced to insert Braylon in the line-up against a stout Ravens defense. Though he did perform well (4 rec. 86 yds and a TD), he still dropped another wide open 40 yard pass that went straight through his hands. He leads the league in drops with 13 but I will be playing him again versus a suspect Broncos defense. I just can’t resist that match-up.

My fantasy squad is now 4-5 after collecting a great win this weekend. My league is becoming mega competitive and I hope to get on a win streak soon. Here is my fantasy line-up currently: Read more

Week 9: Fantasy Update

October 28, 2008

In the Week 8: Fantasy Update I reiterated that Donnie Avery was a guy to watch going forward. Avery grabbed 6 catches for 163 yards and an emphatic 69 yd touchdown reception. This should continue into the future so consider this as a heads up.

Also last week I noted that Ryan Torain will be a player to watch going forward and if he is available in your league you may want to invest a waiver selection on this young man. Now he may not set the world on fire in week 9 but be patient with him as this will be his first real action of the season. Feel free to thank me later when he lights up defenses. Read more

Week 8: Fantasy Update

October 21, 2008

If you have been following the “Fantasy Update” portion of my blog over the last couple of weeks you will notice that Donnie Avery and Mewelde Moore were both mentioned a few weeks ago. Avery is starting to show some signs of growth in the Rams offense with his impressive performance against the Cowboys on Sunday. Also Mewelde Moore did a great job in his 3 TD effort as well.

I’ve got one more name for you to consider. He was injured in preseason and he has not been able to play so far this season. Coach Mike Shanahan is very high on this kid and has even compared him to the great Terrell Davis. His name is Ryan Torain, RB (DEN) and if he has not yet been grabbed from waivers then this is a prime opportunity to take a flyer on him. He is low risk and potentially high reward at this point. He may be taking over as the starting RB in the weeks to come. Grab him now before he heats up. Read more

Week 7: Fantasy Update

October 15, 2008

Ok, so I’m a bonehead. At the last minute I substituted Calvin Johnson for Jonathan Stewart in a move that cost me a victory. I would have won if I had just left my line-up alone. I must say, watching Braylon Edwards torch those New York Giants was fun. Especially since he gave me big fantasy points in the process. But it still wasn’t enough for the “w”. My squad is now 2-4. But its not over yet! Here is my fantasy team currently: Read more
